J. Cole Teases Potential Retirement After Next Album

Another one of the greats is nearing the end of his career.

With the release of the Creed III soundtrack, which was executive produced by Dreamville, came new music from J. Cole—however this time around it’s somewhat bittersweet.

On “Adonis Interlude,” Cole once again raps about potentially retiring after the release of his highly-anticipated next album, The Fall Off:

Just cop The Fall Off and he’ll explain
Is it the end of the chapter, happily ever after
Bet this goin’ be the year that fulfill his reign

This isn’t the first time Cole has hinted that the forthcoming album would be his last. In his mini-documentary Applying Pressure: The Off-Season, which was released prior to The Off-Season album, Cole revealed that he was at peace with walking away from music. “Now that the possibility of not doing this sh*t seems real and I’m at peace with that, don’t have a regret,” Cole said.

As of now there is no official release date for The Fall Off, however it is expected to arrive sometime this year. In the meantime, listen to his new track “Adonis Interlude” below.
